No. All the pieces are intended to be used during the installation process according to the installation instructions we received.

Do I tighten these bolts down as I'm doing it? I know some installation instructions say not to tighten down the product for various reasons.
Great question. The answer is that you are not to tighten down the product all the way before the final adjustments are made. You want to make sure that you have everything in place and that the product is in the proper position before you tighten anything down.

I'm in Canada, is there anything special I should know?
Yes. Canadian provinces require that you have a supplemental braking system for any vehicle that you tow.

How long does it, typically, take for a person to install this thing?
The information we have says that this installation takes around 3 and a half hours to install correctly on a Sprinter van.

Is this a direct-connect baseplate?
Yes. The manufacturer says that any motorhome mounted Roadmaster tow bar will be able to attach to the product.

Does that mean I will not be able to use my Sterling cables?
Correct. The manufacturer says that they will not fit and you cannot use Stowmaster tow bars, a Tow Defender 4700, or a Guardian.

My brake lights aren't working after I installed this thing. What do I need to know in order to get them working?
You need a brake light switch kit if that is true. It will provide the needed signal to the supplemental brake system.

What else should I know?
You may have to trim your air dam, your grill, your fascia, or your spoiler in order to get this item to work.

Do you have a link to the installation instructions I can look at right now?
Yes, we do. If you click this link then a new window will open with the installation instructions. However, if you right click or hold your finger on the link, if you are using a mobile device, then the system should allow you to download the file to your device of choice.
