A roof rack only earns its keep if you can get up to it. The Aluminess rear door ladder gives a 2007-2018 Sprinter a solid climb to the roof without putting a single hole in the door. It bolts to mounting points the van already has and pivots with the door in the same plane, so there are no ball joints to wear out or service.
Ladder Only or Ladder with Tire/Box Mount
- Ladder only: the climbing ladder by itself, for the high roof or the 2014-2018 low roof.
- Ladder + tire/box mount: adds a carrier that holds either a spare tire or a storage box, plus offset steps that fold down so you can climb past whatever is mounted. The hardware for both the tire and the box comes in the kit.
- Bought the ladder alone? The carrier bolts on later.
The storage box itself is sold separately.
How the Aluminess NCV3 Ladder Is Built
- All-aluminum frame finished in textured black powder coat.
- The top of the ladder is shaped with a flat side you can brace your foot against while you strap down cargo, instead of a rounded hoop.
- Stands roughly 4.5" off the door, enough room for a boot on each rung without stretching the van's length much.
- Aluminess rates it to hold 300 lb standing still and 100 lb in motion.
- Works with backup sensors and accepts a RotopaX mounting kit.
- Most owners finish the install themselves in 2-3 hours.
2007-2018 Sprinter Fitment
Fits the NCV3 Sprinter 2500 and 3500 on 144", 170" and 170" extended wheelbases, single or dual rear wheels, RWD, AWD or 4x4. The ladder takes the place of the rear door's factory magnet, so the door needs that magnet to install without drilling; a few base-model vans were built without one.
