Choosing Express & Savana Shocks

Express and Savana vans tend to work hard: passenger shuttles, upfitted work vans and camper conversions all ride on dampers that were sized for a lighter load. Fresh shocks help settle the bounce and float that build up as the original units wear.

Bilstein B6

The Bilstein B6 listing has three options. The front shock fits 2003-2023 2500 and 3500 vans and 2009-2023 4500s. One rear shock fits 1996-2023 2500 and 3500 vans and most 4500 years. The other rear shock fits 1996-2014 Express 1500 and 2500 and Savana 1500, plus Savana 2500 for 1996-2001 and 2003-2014. Shocks are sold individually, so order two per axle.

Match the model year

A 2500 can take either rear shock depending on its year, so check the option label against your van before ordering. Chevrolet and GMC versions of the same van take the same part.

Which rear shock does my van need?

Go by model and year: 1996-2014 1500s take the 1500/2500 rear shock, while 2015 and newer 2500s and all 3500s take the 2500/3500/4500 rear shock. Contact us with your year and VIN and we'll check.

Do these fit both Chevy Express and GMC Savana?

Yes. Bilstein lists each shock for both, with the same years and models apart from a few 4500 years noted on the listing.
