Add to CartMSRP: $934.95$748.00
Ford Transit Hitches & Towing
Ford Transit hitches and towing gear, from a Class 4 hitch with a 2" receiver to the brake controllers, ball mounts and locks that go with it. We also carry hitch-mounted cargo boxes, ski and rod carriers and two hitch steps that ride in that same 2" receiver.
Setting Up Your Transit to Tow or Carry
Most of what's on this page plugs into a 2" receiver. If your Transit doesn't have one yet, start with the CURT Class 4 Hitch, listed for the Ford Transit and Dodge Sprinter with a 2-inch receiver. Then decide what the hitch is for: pulling a trailer, carrying gear, or both.
Towing a trailer
- Ball mount: the CURT Adjustable Dual-Ball Trailer Hitch Mount lets you change ball size and height to suit the trailer.
- Brake controllers: the CURT Triflex works with trailers from 1 to 4 axles, and the CURT Echo plugs into the 7-way connector and runs from a Bluetooth app.
- Security: a CURT 5/8-inch barbell hitch lock for 2-inch receivers keeps a mount or carrier where you left it.
Carrying gear on the hitch
The StowAway line is the most popular part of this category. The StowAway2 MAX Hitch Cargo Carrier is our top seller, with the StowAway Standard cargo box, an open steel cargo rack, a ski carrier and a rod rack alongside it. A hitch box adds storage without touching the roof, but it does sit behind the rear doors, so check how it opens before you load it.
Hitch steps
The Luverne Grip Step is a 7" x 26" drop step that fits a 2" tube, giving you a step up to the rear doors or roof ladder. The WeatherTech BumpStep and BumpStep XL also slide into the receiver, adding a step at the back of the van. For more ways in, see Ford Transit running boards and side steps. Building out the back of the van? Compare a hitch carrier with the Transit cargo boxes that mount on rear doors and ladders, and see Ford Transit bumpers.
FAQs
Does my Transit need a hitch first?
Yes, for everything here except the hitch itself. The carriers, ball mount, lock and steps all need a 2" receiver. If you're not sure your van has one, or which hitch fits, contact us with your year and VIN.
Do I need a brake controller?
If your trailer has electric brakes, you need one in the cab to run them. The Triflex and Echo are both built for that. Check your trailer's brake setup first.
Do you carry hitches for other vans?
Yes. See Sprinter van hitches and Ram ProMaster hitches.
