So, I can call this extra fuel any time I want if I have this system on my Ford Transit?
Correct. You can access the 34.5-gallon tank at the push of a button.
What happens if I forget to turn it off?
The system will be shut off by the controller after 5 gallons are dispersed from the system.
What if I need more than 5 gallons?
You would have to push the button again to get it to activate.
So, how many times can I push the button?
You should have enough gas in the auxiliary tank for 6 button pushes for a full 5 gallons. Obviously, you could push it again and get the leftover amount.
I don’t want to put an ugly plug on my Transit… What can you tell me about the door on this thing?
It is a brushed aluminum door that does not look out of place at all. If you are really worried about the look then it can be mounted on the inside wall of your truck bed.
Wait, am I going to get everything I need to mount this thing?
You get all the valves, pumps, and mounting brackets you need with the system.
I’ve seen STAFS™ mentioned with this system. What does that mean?
It stands for Spare Tire Auxiliary Fuel System.
How many gallons of fuel does this thing hold again?
It has 34.5 gallons of full in the system when filled.
So, how much does this thing weigh? I mean, before the fuel is in the system, of course.
The tank weighs in at 30 lbs.
How do I know how much fuel do I have left in the system? I mean, I’m not always going to use the full tank all the time.
You get a controller interface that shows you how much fuel you have left in the tank.
What is the tank made of?
It is made up of a cross-linked polyethylene material.
How do I activate it? Can I activate it from inside my Transit?
Yes. You get an electronic fuel transfer monitor and a control unit which can be activated from inside the Transit.
If I’m not mistaken… This doubles my fuel capacity, right?
Yes. It is highly likely that you are getting double the fuel capacity.
Where does this fuel tank go again?
The fuel tank rests in the area that would normally house your spare tire.
