Flarespace flares bond into the rear quarter panels of a Ford Transit 148" EL and widen the cargo area with a molded fiberglass bump-out, so a full bed can run across the van rather than along it. Flarespace puts the result at up to 78 inches of sideways sleeping room, depending on how the inside of each flare is finished. Turning the bed sideways hands the rest of the extended body back to you for a kitchen, seating or a gear garage. Every flare is built to order in the USA by Flarespace, the company that originated the van flare.
Build Your Transit 148" EL Flare Setup
The driver and passenger sides each have their own dropdown, so you can order a pair or a single flare. Each EL flare measures about 27.5" wide by 63" long, edge to edge.
- Unpainted on arrival: each flare comes in a primer-gray gel coat rather than your van's color. Flarespace leaves painting to your body shop, since matching the actual van gives a truer color than a factory paint code.
- Solid flare: no opening at all, the quietest and most private choice once insulated.
- Trim rings: molded fiberglass rings that finish the inside edge of each flare and bridge the gap to your interior wall. Mounting hardware is not included.
Why a Solid Flare on the EL
- Darker, quieter sleeping: with no glass in the wall, an insulated solid flare blocks light and road noise better than a window can.
- Full bed length: nothing is inset into the flare, so you keep the whole sideways length from floor to ceiling.

Installation and Fitment
That gel coat is ready to sand, prime and paint. A body shop then opens the quarter panel at its factory-stamped window outline and bonds each flare in with the adhesive and written instructions Flarespace includes. The Flarespace one-year limited warranty covers professionally installed flares only, and because each flare is made to order, Flarespace suggests booking your paint and install shop before you buy.
Fits 2014 and newer Ford Transit 250, 350 and 350HD extended-length vans (148" EL) with medium or high roof, RWD or AWD, and single or dual rear wheels. These flares are shaped for the extended body; standard-length 148" Transits use Flarespace's separate 148" flares.
