The long 170" Sprinter has floor space to spare, yet its walls still sit too close together for most adults to sleep across the van. Bolt a bed in lengthwise and it eats a big piece of that floor. Flarespace flares fix the width instead: each one is a molded fiberglass bump-out that replaces a rear quarter panel, giving a crosswise mattress the extra inches it needs, with Flarespace quoting as much as 80 inches of length depending on how you finish the walls. The space that frees up behind the cab can go to a full galley, a shower or a dinette. Flarespace originated the van flare, and every set is produced to order in the USA.

Build Your Sprinter 170" Flare Combination

Use the driver and passenger dropdowns to set up each side on its own. Choose a pair, or pick no flare on one side to buy a single. On the 170", both sides come in regular or extended depth, and each flare is about 27.5" by 63" measured across its outer edges.

  • Comes unpainted: flares are delivered in bare gel coat ready for sanding and primer, not in your van's color. Painting is the body shop's job, since the paint code on its own is not enough to get an exact match.
  • Regular depth: stands about 2.9" proud of the body at its deepest point.
  • Extended depth: about 4.4" at its deepest point, a gain of roughly an inch and a half for more foot and shoulder room. It is offered on the driver side and the passenger side of the 170".
  • Mix depths freely: each side is ordered independently, so a regular passenger flare with an extended driver flare is a valid combination.
  • Trim rings: fiberglass rings that form a finished sill between your wall panels and the flare, about 40.5" x 23.5" measured through the middle. The ring included for each side matches that flare's depth.

Choosing Solid Flares for the Sprinter 170"

These flares have no window opening on either side. A solid wall insulates better and blocks light and sound, the bed keeps its full length because nothing is inset, and you skip the night covers a window needs.

Prefer glass beside the bed? Our Sprinter 170" flares with windows bundle the window in, at regular or extended depth.

Sprinter 170" Flare Installation and Fitment

These flares are meant for a professional body shop. After the shop paints them, it cuts away the quarter panel along the stamped line Mercedes left for a window, protects the bare metal edge from rust, and glues each flare in place with the adhesive Flarespace includes alongside its written instructions. Flarespace's one-year limited warranty is honored only on professional installs, and nothing ships from stock, so book your installer before ordering. A passenger Sprinter can get flares too once the shop removes the rear quarter glass, and an extended door stopper from Mercedes restores 270-degree rear door opening unless you carry a rear door ladder.

Fits Mercedes Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vans from 2007 onward on the 170" wheelbase, medium or high roof, RWD, 4x4 or AWD, single or dual rear wheel. The 144" Sprinter has a separate listing with its own flares.
