RotopaX packs don't come with a mount, and every pack needs one. Think of it as the RotopaX version of a jerry can mount: the base bolts to a flat, solid surface, the pack slides over it through its center hole, and the handle turns down into the pack's dimples to clamp it tight. Every pack mount includes a 4" disc base that bolts on directly or to a RotopaX plate, and any RotopaX mount fits any RotopaX fuel, water, DEF or storage pack. Most packs take one mount; the long 4 gallon gas can takes two.
Choose Your Mount
- RotopaX Standard Pack Mount (RX-PM): a single spinning T-handle. The basic, budget-friendly gas can mount.
- RotopaX DLX Pack Mount (RX-DLX-PM): RotopaX's most popular mount. Two arms spin down separately for a tighter hold on rough roads, and it's the one RotopaX recommends for a stacked pair.
- RotopaX Locking (LOX) Pack Mount (RX-LOX-PM): the DLX two-arm design with a lock cylinder and two keys, for vans that sit at trailheads or on the street. Use it on single packs: it doesn't work with an extension.
- RotopaX Locking T-Handle (RX-LOX-T): already have a RotopaX mount? Swap this keyed handle in to make it lock.
- RotopaX Pack Mount Extension (RX-EXT): anodized aluminum. Stacks a second pack (two is the limit) on a Standard or DLX mount when the bottom pack is a 1, 2 or 4 gallon. 1.75 and 3 gallon packs use their own extensions.
- RotopaX Universal Mounting Plate (RX-UP): powder-coated steel plate for a roof rack, ladder or frame without a flat spot, sized for a 4 gallon pack or two interlocked 2 gallon packs. Add pack mounts to it.
- RotopaX EZ Tire Kit (RX-EZ): a spare tire mount made of two plates and a heavy-duty ratchet strap that wrap any size spare tire, pre-drilled for RotopaX pack mounts. Powder-coated textured black, made in the USA.
RotopaX covers its mounts with a 1-year hardware warranty and the lock cylinders for life.
Where to Mount on a Van
Rear ladders and roof racks are the usual spots on a Sprinter, Transit or ProMaster, followed by rear-door tire carriers (the EZ Tire Kit) and rear-door storage panels. Aluminess BackPACK owners can use the BackPACK RotopaX mounting plate. Pick the mount by the spot and by whether you want it to lock.
