The current-generation Sprinter sits high, and every trip into the cab or through the slider starts with a big first step. The AMP Research PowerStep 76264-01A adds automatic steps to both sides of 2019-2021 Sprinters: a 36" board under the driver's door and a 79" board on the passenger side that reaches from the front door back to the sliding door.
How It Works
Open a door and the step on that side swings down and out. Close it and, two seconds later, the board folds back under the van, out of the way of curbs and rough roads. A board that meets an obstruction stops moving; clear it, then open and close the door to carry on.

Installation
Each kit includes both boards, a motor and idler linkage for each side, brackets, the harness and mounting hardware. Power and door signals come through a plug that connects at the van's OBD II port, so there's no tapping into door wiring. The linkages do mount with rivet nuts, which means drilling the body using the included template. AMP rates it 3-5 hours and recommends professional installation.
An override switch to hold the steps out for roof access is sold separately. For care, rinse the linkages (not the motors) and use dry silicone spray only on the pivots; grease, oil and WD-40 will gum them up.
Sprinter Fitment
AMP lists this kit for 2019-2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans built to U.S. specifications. It is not compatible with vans that have the Cold Weather Package. Own a 2022 or newer Sprinter?
