Why Powersteps Are Essential for Your Sprinter Van
The Sprinter is tall. Getting in and out a dozen times a day — especially with a full load of tools, or kids, or groceries — gets old fast. Powersteps fix that. They deploy when you open the door, retract when you close it, and don't hang below the rocker the rest of the time.
For 2019+ VS30 Sprinters, the kit to run is the Sprintek Driver & Passenger Side Electric Power Running Boards with AMP Research Steps. AMP Research makes the best electric running boards on the market, but they don't sell a direct-fit kit for the Sprinter. Sprintek built the bracket and wiring harness that makes it work, and we warranty the whole install.
What you're getting
- Automatic deploy/retract. Door opens, step drops. Door closes, step tucks up.
- No lost ground clearance. Retracted, the steps sit tight to the rocker — you can still get down a fire road or into a steep driveway.
- VS30-specific fit. Works on 144", 170", and 170" extended wheelbase.
- Warrantied install kit. Sprintek's bracket and harness are covered, and we'll troubleshoot with you if anything acts up.
If you use your van daily, the convenience alone is worth it. If you're running a shuttle or hauling passengers, the safety argument is even easier — every time someone has to jump down from a stock Sprinter door is a twisted ankle waiting to happen.
Non-electric alternatives
If you'd rather not add motors and wiring to your rocker panels — or your van is a 4x4 / AWD with higher ride height where fixed steps make more sense — there are two non-electric options we stand behind.
1. Tec VanLife Sprinter Aluminum Running Boards with Drop-Down
The right call for lifted and 4x4 Sprinters. The drop-down section gets you a usable step height even on a van that's sitting 3 inches taller than stock.
- High-strength aluminum, powder coated. Light, won't rust.
- Fits Sprinters 2007 and newer. Straightforward install.
- Adds a bit of rocker-panel protection as a bonus.
2. Vanspeed Sprinter Side Steps
The tubular steel option. Heavier, burlier, looks the part on a work van or a blacked-out build.
- 1½" tubular steel with a black powder coat.
- Fits 2008–2024 Sprinters, 144" or 170" wheelbase.
- Sits flush with the rocker — no lost ground clearance.
- 350 lb capacity per step. Made in Huntington Beach, CA.
Which one should you get?
- You want the best, daily-driver experience, and you have a 2019+ VS30. Go with the Sprintek AMP powerstep kit. Nothing else is close on convenience.
- You have a 4x4 or lifted van. The Tec VanLife drop-down boards are the move. The drop-down makes up the height.
- You want something bulletproof and low-maintenance on a work van. Vanspeed steel side steps. Install once and forget about them.
All three options install in an afternoon. If you're not sure which fits your year and trim, call us — we'll look it up and point you at the right kit.
